South St.
is a street that connects me to my loved ones and my youth. This photo series is composed of archival photos from family albums and photographs I have taken from 2017 to early 2024.

My grandpa and uncles, 1993.

Yeay- my grandmother.

My mother in the 90s.

Yeay's orchids, 2000.

My maternal family immigrated from Cambodia to Cincinnati, Ohio, after being sponsored. They began to learn English and adapt to life in the US. After some time, they relocated to Long Beach, California, where they lived in a small back house near Cambodia Town.
My grandpa (who I refer to as Kong) worked at the post office and my grandma (Yeay) developed a love for orchids. After years of saving up money, my grandparents purchased a home in Lakewood, California in the early 90s. I moved there in 2012 at the age of 7.
